Home Addition Permit Drawings

An addition has to work with a house that already exists. That means verifying existing framing, matching floor and roof lines, tying new structure into old, and extending electrical, plumbing and HVAC, all on paper before the plan checker sees it. Missing tie-in details are the most common reason addition permits get sent back.

We prepare full permit sets for room additions, second-story additions, bump-outs, sunrooms, basement and attic conversions, and major remodels.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an architect for a home addition?

Many jurisdictions don't require a licensed architect for single-family additions, but nearly all require complete, code-compliant drawings, and often an engineer for structural changes. We provide the full set and add a PE stamp where needed.

Can you add a second story to my house?

Usually. The existing foundation and walls must be verified to carry the new load, so we include the structural assessment and any reinforcement in the drawings.

Will the drawings show my existing house too?

Yes. Plan checkers need existing and proposed conditions side by side, and we document both.

What do you need from me to start?

Your address, photos, rough measurements of the existing house (or existing plans if you have them), and a description of what you want to add.

Already have drawings that just need a seal? See our PE stamp & seal review.
